Barón de Ley Gran Reserva Rioja 2018 is a premium red wine from the renowned Spanish winery Barón de Ley, produced under the prestigious D.O.Ca. Rioja appellation. This 75 cl bottle represents a classic expression of Rioja Gran Reserva: matured carefully, with emphasis on structure, depth and ageing potential.
Grape varieties: Primarily 90-100% Tempranillo, with a minority blend of Graciano, depending on bottling.
Vineyards: Grapes come from Barón de Ley’s own vineyards in the area of Cenicero (in Rioja Alta) or from Mendavia/Rioja Baja estates, depending on origin.
Terroir & climate: The vineyards benefit from a mix of Mediterranean climate with Atlantic influences, and often grow on soils with low organic matter — conditions that help concentrate flavours and maintain freshness even in mature wines.
The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected (bunch-by-bunch, and even berry selection in advanced sorting).
Ageing: minimum of 24 months in French and American oak barrels, followed by a minimum of 36 months in bottle before release — the classic ageing regime for a Gran Reserva.
The result is a wine with considerable ageing potential, structure and complexity — designed to evolve gracefully over time.
Color: Deep ruby-red with garnet or brick-red reflections — a sign of maturity and classic Rioja Gran Reserva character
